Where do we shoot?

All sessions are shot on location in and around Lincoln, CA at a favorite park or on the streets and in the alley ways of downtown.  While most people love to stay close to home for convenience I will travel to a special location for a session if requested.  Places like Napa, Tahoe, San Francisco, Coloma are all destinations that have proven to create one of a kind portraits.  

What do we wear?

Here are a few guidelines for clothing choices that should help...try and stay away from logos that will be distraction, white tends to be too bright and does not photograph well in many situations.  Jeans are always fun and can be mixed with just about anything.  Layers of clothing photograph the best as it gives depth and texture to an image.  Pair a baby tee with a button up or a sweater and then add a jacket and a scarf to top it off.  Hats are fun and make for cute pictures.  Chunky necklaces are awesome and photograph nicely, and remember, complimentary colors work better than everything the same color.  If you or your children have very distinct eye color, clothing that matches that eye color looks really nice and really brings out the eyes.  If you are a family and are struggling to find just the right outfit for picture day, try this...find a dress or top in a pattern for one family member.  This always seems to work best on one of the children in the family.  Then, dress the rest of the family in colors from that pattern.  You will get a nice color palette of outfits while avoiding the dreaded "everyone dress in the exact same thing/color".  For further clothing samples please visit me on Pinterest.  I have three boards that will be helpful, CUTE OUTFITS, CUTE CHILDREN'S OUTFITS and KIDS.  Have fun shopping!

When will we see our images?

You will receive your gallery full of proofs 3-5 days after your session.   

Things to know...

Re-shoots are at the discretion of the photographer and are not given for regretful personal choices such as hair and clothing decisions.  If your child is feeling ill, please call to reschedule.  I understand that sometimes this happens.  If you must cancel, please try to do so at least 24 hours prior to your session. A full tummy helps keep babies and children happy and satisfied during their portrait session. All session fees are due at the time of booking and are nonrefundable. Full payment of session fee is considered a deposit or statement of good faith and will treated as such. A deposit may be used at a later date, transferred to another person or used for prints and/or products.

As a client of Fara Smith Photography, you acknowledge and understand that the images taken by Fara Smith are protected by Federal Copyright Laws and that you may not make ANY reproduction of the images in ANY form (print or electronic) without the express written consent of Fara Smith.  Violation of this copyright could result in fines of up to $500 per violation.  As an artist, I wish to have complete control over the final look of my client’s images.  Scanned images damage my reputation as a photographer by distorting and devaluing the image quality.  Thank you in advance for respecting my work and livelihood by choosing not to reproduce my images.  Reproduction includes, but is not limited to scanning, downloading, right-clicking, emailing, saving to harddrive, posting on websites or blogs, photocopying, obtaining screen shots, or printing in any manner.
