Where do we shoot?

All newborn sessions are shot at my rustic, french country feel, in home studio located in Lincoln Crossing.  While all other sessions are shot on location in and around Lincoln, CA at a favorite park or on the streets and in the alley ways of downtown.  While most people love to stay close to home for convenience I will travel to a special location for a session if requested.  Places like Napa, Tahoe, San Francisco, Coloma are all destinations that have proven to create one of a kind portraits.

What do we wear?

I am always asked "What should I/we wear?" and "How many outfit changes do I/we get?".  With family sessions I ask that you come to the session wearing what you intend to be photographed in.  There is not much time in a family session for outfit changes.  Please bring accessories to your session...a jacket to go with your top or maybe a hat or scarf to finish off your look.  If time permits I will encourage outfit changes so be prepared just in case.  Senior sessions are a little different in that it is recommended that you bring at least two outfit changes.  Time will be made in the senior session for those outfit changes.
Here are a few guidelines for clothing choices that should help...try and stay away from logos that will be distraction, white tends to be too bright and does not photograph well in many situations.  Jeans are always fun and can be mixed with just about anything.  Layers of clothing photograph the best as it gives depth and texture to an image.  Pair a baby tee with a button up or a sweater and then add a jacket and a scarf to top it off.  Hats are fun and make for cute pictures.  Chunky necklaces are awesome and photograph nicely, and remember, complimentary colors work better than everything the same color.  If you or your children have very distinct eye color, clothing that matches that eye color looks really nice and really brings out the eyes.  If you are a family and are struggling to find just the right outfit for picture day, try this...find a dress or top in a pattern for one family member.  This always seems to work best on one of the children in the family.  Then, dress the rest of the family in colors from that pattern.  You will get a nice color palette of outfits while avoiding the dreaded "everyone dress in the exact same thing/color".  For further clothing samples please visit me on Pinterest.  I have three boards that will be helpful, CUTE OUTFITS, CUTE CHILDREN'S OUTFITS and KIDS.  Have fun shopping!
when will we see our images?

Two weeks after your session I will contact you to schedule an in-person viewing/ordering session.  We will meet at my studio, located in Lincoln, CA.  We will view your images and go over samples of many different printing options.  You will choose and purchase your prints/collections at that time, please make sure that ALL decision makers are present.  I accept cash, checks and credit cards.  Please be prepared to make your purchase payment at your viewing/ordering session.

Can I purchase the digital files?

YES!  I do sell digital files.  When you purchase digital files you are purchasing the rights to print those files only.  Fara Smith Photography will remain the owner and copyright holder of ALL digital negatives.  By purchasing digital files you are purchasing the license to be able to use the images for duplication ONLY.  Please DO NOT change, alter, add to, embellish, enhance or edit any digital file in any way including the use of filters used in Instagram.  Altering the final look of any image is in violation of federal copyright laws.  Thank you for your cooperation.

How long does it take to get prints?

Orders will be processed the same day as your viewing/ordering session.  Prints typically take 2 weeks to come in once they have been ordered, please allow a few extra days during the holiday season.

Things to know...

Re-shoots are at the discretion of the photographer and are not given for regretful personal choices such as hair and clothing decisions.  If your child is feeling ill, please call to reschedule.  I understand that sometimes this happens.  If you must cancel, please try to do so at least 24 hours prior to your session. A full tummy helps keep babies and children happy and satisfied during their portrait session.
